Southwestern seeks to expedite development of oil properties

Southwestern Energy will reallocate $50 million from its midstream activities to speed up the leasing and drilling of its properties in the Brown Dense formation in Louisiana and Arkansas and the Denver-Julesburg Basin in Colorado, said Steven Mueller, the company's president and CEO. "Our goal is to understand the Brown Dense and Colorado plays by year-end," he said. Southwestern will also keep its natural gas production at low levels amid weak prices for the commodity.
