Access to dermatologists is limited for children on Medicaid

Parents of children with eczema may have trouble finding treatment if the children are covered by Medicaid, a Saint Louis University study found. About 20% of children in the U.S. have eczema, and 30% of children seen by primary care providers have a skin condition, researchers said. "Improved access to dermatologists is important for treating eczema in order to enhance the well-being of affected children and to minimize the expensive cost of emergency care," said dermatology assistant professor and lead author Dr. Sofia Chaudhry.
