Taiwan posts unexpected drop in exports for April

Taiwan's exports were down 1.9% in April from a year before, surprising economists, who had projected a gain. Exports to the U.S. and major Asian markets were up, but shipments to Europe were down a sharp 19.3%. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Finance tempered its outlook for second-quarter export performance.
