Top Air Force pilots are designated as instructors

Soon after getting their wings, pilots in the top half of their class are sometimes designated for the Air Force's first assignment instructor pilot program. For many who look forward to combat experience, it is not their first choice, but the assignment is an honor. Of her experience as an instructor, 1st Lt. Michelle Bosch said that "the actual teaching, and watching a student who is struggling and you being able to teach them something that just clicks for them and then they excel in that portion of their flying, is probably the most rewarding thing I've done in the Air Force."
