Banfield's 2012 State of Pet Health Report sheds light on how to give pets the healthiest lives possible. States with higher rates of spaying and neutering, more pets kept indoors and fewer regional infectious diseases tend to have pets with the longest life spans, according to the report. However, complete veterinary care including vaccinations and parasite control is a critical part of ensuring a long, healthy life for pets, according to veterinarian Sandi Lefebvre.
