Analysis: Nation's "report card" reveals narrowing gender gap

Data from the National Assessment of Educational Progress show a narrowing gender gap in girls' interest and participation in advanced math, but significant gaps still exist in girls' interest in computer science, according to this analysis. For example, girls took the Advanced Placement exam in calculus at nearly equal numbers to boys, but girls comprised only 19% of AP computer-science test-takers. Some say the disparity reveals a need to encourage more girls to take computer-science courses.
