Gift of corneas raises donor awareness at Ill. university

Michael Collins, a Normal, Ill., man who died last month, was honored at Illinois State University. Collins' corneas were donated and helped restore the sight of a New York woman. Collins' gift of life has substantially raised tissue and organ donor awareness in his community, said Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White, who oversees the state's donor registry.
