Md. high-schoolers gather thousands of shoes to send to Kenya

Students at South River High School in Maryland have joined the nonprofit group Think Kindness to gather 3,500 pairs of shoes to send to an orphanage in Kenya. The students exceeded their original goal of 2,300 pairs as they donated sneakers, flip-flops and boots, among other footwear. A social studies class at the school donated 400-plus pairs of shoes, and students at a nearby high school collected 4,000 pairs for charity.
