Dubai's "extreme makeover" draws affluent visitors

The Gulf city-state of Dubai, long known as a business destination, has been working to remake itself into a draw for tourists from all over the world. Dubai's opulent shopping malls, stunning beaches and over-the-top service helped draw about 5.45 million visitors last year, a 9% increase over 2003, and more projects under construction should help increase that number still more in 2005.
