Dutch place dropouts into work programs

The Netherlands has created 130 job-placement centers around the country plus various training programs to prepare school dropouts, who numbered 70,500 in 2002, for the work force. One program, which teaches young men to restore historic walls and forts, aims to hone social as well as basic construction skills.
