Employers need to encourage absences if bird flu strikes

As the threat of a bird flu pandemic looms, experts say U.S. companies will need to revise their mind-set that workers can't be productive from home and instead encourage employees to stay home to prevent the flu's spread. The losses involved in spreading infection will far outweigh having a person stay home, experts say.
