New navigation technology flying high

Satellite-based navigation is helping airlines use less fuel and make safer runway approaches. The technology is being promoted by the FAA and being used at 40 airports around the country currently. "You're flying a more precise, reliable path," says Alison Duquette, an FAA spokeswoman. "You know exactly where the aircraft is at all times."
