AHA supports videoconference exams for stroke patients

The American Heart Association says using videoconferencing to examine stroke patients is as effective as a bedside exam and could lead to improved patient access to stroke specialists. The medical group's scientific statement recommends the deploying telestroke systems to increase resources in areas where local expertise is not available 24/7 and increasing Medicare reimbursement for telestroke care.
