Burn expert advises against banning flame retardant

Nathan Kemalyan, a physician at the Oregon Burn Center in Portland, writes that state lawmakers should delay action on a bill that would ban Deca-BDE, a commonly used flame retardant. The Environmental Protection Agency, National Academy of Sciences and Consumer Product Safety Commission have concluded that the chemical is safe to use, he writes.
