L.A. Times releases more value-added rankings

The Los Angeles Times has released updated rankings of teachers' effectiveness based on controversial value-added analysis, which uses year-to-year standardized test results to estimate an educator's contribution to students' learning. The evaluations of 11,500 third- through fifth-grade teachers are twice the number the newspaper released in August. The school district asked the newspaper not to publish the data, which they say violates privacy, and many teachers say the data are inaccurate and unfair.
