$600M container terminal to be built in Panama

Construction of a $600 million post-Panamax facility at the Atlantic entrance to the Panama Canal was approved by the Panama Maritime Authority. “We just did the bidding for the dredging and land reclamation two weeks ago, and we’re expecting to start construction in July,” said John Carver of Jones Lang LaSalle. The facility, with an annual capacity of two million, 20-foot equivalent units, should be operational in 2014.
