Memphis, Tenn., was named the fattest city in the nation by Newsweek magazine, with an obesity rate of 29.7%, followed by Richmond, Va.; San Antonio; Virginia Beach, Va.; and Columbus, Ohio. Memphis ranked fifth among major metro areas in diabetes incidence. About half of residents regularly exercise, and 56.7% eat fruits and vegetables regularly, according to the rankings, based on Gallup's Well-Being Index.
