S.D. oil, gas leases continue to interest drillers, experts say

Energy companies are becoming more interested in oil and natural gas leases in South Dakota, observers say. Firms acquired 75,289 acres in an April lease sale by the state's Office of School and Public Lands -- the second major auction in a row for the department. Jarrod Johnson, the department's commissioner, said he hopes the auctions will lead to an increase in drilling in the future.
