Mobile applications collect cellphone users' locations in many ways, whether a user explicitly or implicitly shares it or the app passively collects the data even when not running. This results in multiple location data profiles of each user, not a single picture. That means location data will be a boon to application developers -- users may be leery of sharing such data unless they trust the companies collecting it, writes Semil Shah.
