Ecuador's weather may drive up Mother's Day posy prices

Valentine's Day is typically a pricier flower holiday than Mother's Day because of the focus on roses, but adverse weather conditions in flower-growing areas of Ecuador and Colombia may bring higher prices for mom's bouquet this week. Mother's Day sales account for about one-quarter of the annual $34 billion U.S. flower industry, and the bulk of the blooms are imported from Ecuador and Colombia.
