How will the focus on testing affect classroom teaching?

North Carolina middle-school teacher Bill Ferriter writes about how his teaching will change next year when his state shifts to a value-added evaluation model for teachers. In this blog post, Ferriter writes that he plans to spend more time covering material in class that will appear on standardized tests -- which he admits is "not a good thing" -- and worries that he won't cover everything before the tests are administered.
