Current market conditions are suitable for community wind projects to thrive, according to executives at the WINDPOWER 2013 Conference in Chicago. Due to their ownership model, community wind projects usually get permits more easily than investor-owned projects and are not subjected to the "not-in-my-backyard" mentality that hampers some projects, said Ray Henger, chief financial officer of OwnEnergy.
