Navy looks to avoid furloughs for shipbuilders

Furloughs affecting engineers, welders and other key shipbuilding personnel would hurt the Navy's operational readiness, Navy acquisition chief Sean Stackley told lawmakers this week. The Navy aims to have a fleet of 300 vessels within a decade.
