Tech firms resist immigration measure aimed at protecting U.S. workers

Technology firms are lobbying against a provision of the Senate immigration bill that would require companies to post job openings for at least 30 days on a government website before seeking to fill the positions with foreign workers. The provision seeks to give the Labor Department an opportunity to challenge decisions to hire foreigners. The bill would also penalize employers that rely on foreigners for more than 30% of their workforce.
