Draghi stresses ECB independence from political advice

The European Central Bank needs to remain independent from political advice to maintain credibility, President Mario Draghi says. "Over the last few days, we received plenty of advice from political figures [and] from institutions on almost everything ... so we are certainly thankful for this advice," Draghi said. "But ... by the treaty, we are independent, so people should be aware that if this might be seen as a threat to our independence, it could cause long-term damage to our credibility."
