ESMA's Maijoor sees conflict in U.S., EU segregation rules

How EU and U.S. rules treat the separation and commingling of clients' assets is a serious "conflict of law," says Steven Maijoor, chairman of the European Securities and Markets Authority. The issue comes up prominently in collateral protection. "It's a clear-cut case of a conflict of law between Dodd-Frank and [the European Market Infrastructure Regulation]," Maijoor said.
