Regulations challenge SEFs as they look to grow globally

A U.S. requirement that swap transactions not subject to mandatory clearing be traded on a swap-execution facility along with required transactions is adding a high degree of reporting complexity. That rule and others by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission under Dodd-Frank legislation are introducing a thicket of regulatory difficulties for U.S.-based SEFs just as they move to expand overseas.
