Cendant tells poor quality hotels to shape up or ship out

As the Cendant Hotel Group gets more aggressive with its quality standards, hotels that don't fit the bill are being asked to check out. The chain, which franchises Days Inn, Ramada, Howard Johnson, Super 8, Travelodge and other brands, has dropped between 580 and 600 properties in the three years since its "Project Restore" program began.
