Schools aim to get students college-ready

To eliminate expensive remedial courses for college freshmen and sophomores, educators are encouraging elementary students to aspire to college and are toughening up high school curriculum. Portland (Ore.) Community College uses an innovative program to allow school dropouts to earn their high school diploma while they work toward a community college degree.
