Online Advertising Spending: The Big Picture

Paid search is the largest segment of online advertising, accounting for 42% of the $19.5 billion total. Display advertising is the next largest format, but will be surpassed in 2011 by rich media and video. Google's recent acquisitions of YouTube and DoubleClick, combined with its growing share of paid search, have left many wondering what Yahoo!, the largest publisher for display advertising, will do next to compete.
