IMF official urges policymakers to deal with inflation

John Lipsky, a top official with the International Monetary Fund, said policymakers around the world need to take aggressive actions if inflation starts to accelerate more rapidly. Lipsky, the IMF's first deputy managing director, said soaring energy and commodity prices threaten the global economy. "Signs of more general inflation pressures would justify a decisive policy response, lest the impressive gains in global stability attained in recent years be sacrificed," he said.
