AHIMA resists proposal to postpone ICD-10 deadlines

The American Health Information Management Association has submitted a comment letter to HHS restating its opposition to a proposal that would delay the compliance deadline set for ICD-10. "ICD-9 is antiquated and no longer adequately meets the challenge of a 21st-century health care system. ICD-10 should be implemented in a timely manner, and AHIMA is ready to continue assisting the health care community to prepare for the transition," said AHIMA CEO Lynne Thomas Gordon.
