FAA and DOT are too slow to respond on safety, special counsel says

U.S. Special Counsel Carolyn N. Lerner has sent a letter to the White House outlining concerns about slow responses to safety lapses by the Transportation Department and the Federal Aviation Administration. "We are confident that America's flying public is safe -- thanks in part to changes that DOT and FAA have already made in response to these concerns and other whistleblower disclosures," DOT said in a statement.
