Rising IC demand may spur chip counterfeiting, IHS iSuppli warns

With demand for certain semiconductor parts expected to rise in the second half of this year, along with prices for those parts, IHS iSuppli foresees chip counterfeiters targeting the most popular IC types will be on the upturn. The market research firm warns that capacitors, DRAMs, logic ICs, NAND flash memory devices and power semiconductors may be in short supply later this year, attracting counterfeiters to those chips in particular.
