Concrete issues require tearing up, rebuilding Calif. railroad bridge

Crews are at work replacing a 500-foot section of a 755-foot-long concrete railroad bridge north of Oceanside, Calif. Rebuilding the portion of the bridge was a decision contractors made after "tiny cracks spread through the superstructure after wooden braces that supported concrete molds fell down before the material had properly set." Flatiron Construction and Herzog Contracting are the contractors on the $40.6 million bridge project.
