Device speeds DNA extraction with electrodes

Extraction of DNA is being sped up to match advances in other stages of sequencing with a new device from the University of Washington. The machine immerses electrodes in a sample, creating a field that draws in particles. All the pieces larger than individual strands of DNA eventually fall off the electrodes, leaving the DNA.
