Sears debuts lease-to-own service for large purchases

Sears has rolled out a lease-to-own program as an alternative to layaway for credit-challenged consumers on purchases of appliances, furniture and other big-ticket items. Sears tested the program in 10 stores in New York, Texas and Florida last fall before debuting it in all 900 locations this week.
