Why SDN will change the network hardware landscape

As software-defined networking becomes more prevalent and valued, the hardware it requires will become cheaper and less important, says Steve Riley, a technical director at Riverbed and part of the vendor's Strategic Technology Group. In fact, he says hardware plays no role in SDN going forward as all the network intelligence lies in the software.
