Modeling itself after year-round schools and universities, the Reynolds School District in Fairview, Ore., includes two extra weeklong breaks in its elementary and middle school calendar to give students a respite and offer enrichment classes. As the school board prepares to decide whether to continue intersessions in the future, many say the practice needs more thorough evaluation before it becomes permanent.
