Scientists find gene regions linked to hypertension

Two international studies identified 13 gene regions that play a role in high blood pressure, or hypertension, which has been linked to an increased risk of heart attack and other cardiovascular conditions. "It is still very difficult to treat high blood pressure, and new leads for new genes that we can target are sorely needed," one of the researchers said.
