Canadian official to use technology to spotlight speech disorders

The mayor of the Canadian city of Regina is planning to raise awareness about communication disorders today, using a DynaVox speech-generating device used by people who cannot speak during a public meeting. The event is being sponsored by the Saskatchewan Association of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists and is designed to generate awareness and promote early intervention and detection of speech and language disorders, thought to significantly affect about 4% of the preschool population.
