Colorado district is launching teacher performance pay

A Colorado school district is among the first in the country to replace traditional teacher pay with a system based totally on how well teachers and students are performing in the classroom. The "Effectiveness and Results" plan places teachers in pay categories based on a combination of administrator observations and students' academic growth based on multiple measures. The pay scale will be extended to include principals in fall 2011.
