GERD symptoms resolve when obese patients lose weight

About two-thirds of obese patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease had their symptoms resolve after they shed pounds during a weight-loss program. U.S. researchers reported that significant improvement in GERD symptoms for women came after losing more than 5% of body weight while for men it was more than 10%.
