More districts turn to income in determining school assignments

More school districts are using family-income levels as a factor in deciding where a student attends school. The trend follows a 2007 Supreme Court decision striking down race as the main factor in school assignments. Some experts say the integration of students with different socioeconomic backgrounds increases achievement.
