Proposed bill aims to shore up cybersecurity leader role

A proposed law is aimed at bolstering the role, and cementing the position, of the national cybersecurity coordinator. If approved, it would give White House Cybersecurity Coordinator Howard Schmidt budget authority and job security as the position could be axed by future administrations. He also would be tasked to direct a new National Cyberspace Office.
