Schapiro plans to meet with exchange chiefs to discuss market drop:

Mary Schapiro, chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission, called for a meeting in Washington, D.C., with leaders of major stock exchanges to discuss last week's market free fall. Schapiro is attempting to prevent a repeat of the plunge, sources said. NYSE Euronext CEO Duncan Niederauer, Nasdaq OMX CEO Robert Greifeld and other exchange chiefs are expected to attend the meeting.
