Suppliers can't meet demand, slowing broader recovery

Many factories are struggling to keep up with demand for supplies because of the dramatic rebound in the manufacturing industry. This is slowing broader economic recovery and job growth, some economists say. Although manufacturers have added jobs -- after cutting 2 million in the recession -- their inability to ramp up quickly may have prevented the creation of thousands of additional jobs, according to Sung Won Sohn, economics professor at California State University's Smith School.
