Texas lawmakers consider raising class-size limit

Lawmakers in Texas are considering whether to increase class sizes in order to cut costs -- changing a standard that has been in place for 25 years. Supporters of the change say the state is spending millions of dollars to maintain a limit of 22 students in kindergarten through fourth grade, but there is no evidence the limit improves achievement. However, opponents maintain that smaller class sizes have boosted student performance.
