Thin "skin" for buildings could regulate light, heat

Modular construction, integrated materials, toughness and durability -- nature builds this way. University of California bioengineering and architecture professors have teamed up to create a building "skin" that incorporates some of these characteristics. Their thin-film building membrane aims to control humidity, light and temperature.
