Report: Chicken bests burgers in the race for menu space

May is National Burger Month, but quickservice and fast-casual eateries are more focused on pushing the chicken, according to a new report from Mintel. Eateries have beefed up their chicken-sandwich offerings during the past year, as beef prices rise and more consumers eschew red meat. The trend is evident in upcoming promotions. For the first time, Red Robin Gourmet Burgers will kick off its summer menu without a new burger, focusing instead on its 5 Alarm Chicken sandwich.
